README

claude-code-ascii-pet-mod (=^・ω・^=)

A tiny cat that lives in a Claude Code pane and reacts while you work.

  • Changes mood and color as Claude works: excited when you send a message, happy when a tool works, zoomies on a streak, concerned when something fails, sleepy during long tool calls.
  • Short AI-written thoughts, a time-of-day greeting, and a 💡 next-step tip after each reply.
  • Pat it (press its face or p) or give it a treat (t).
  • Its face also shows in the status line.

Install

In Claude Code:

/plugin marketplace add klyap/claude-code-ascii-pet-mod
/plugin install code-pet@claude-code-ascii-pet-mod

Then run /pet to open the pane.

Notes

  • Uses Claude Code's function-hook plugins (a hooks/register.tsx module). If your Claude Code build doesn't have that feature switched on yet, the plugin installs but /pet won't do anything.
  • The thoughts and tips come from small Haiku calls on your account, a few per reply. Tips send the end of Claude's latest reply to Haiku; reactions to tool calls send only the tool's name and whether it worked.
